Weekly Update: 10/21/13 to 10/27/13

I have been telling myself that I am going to take it easy for a couple of weeks and I think I have been a very good listener! I have just been feeling like I kind of need a break and I want to be well rested and refreshed before I start training for the LA Marathon in a few weeks. I also have Ragnar Las Vegas coming up in less than two weeks. I don't have very many miles (11.7 Miles to be exact) so my legs are manageable. I have the Surfer's Point Half Marathon the week following Ragnar Las Vegas so I did not want to over-commit and end up injured for over doing it.

Here is how my week turned out:

MondayREST

Tuesday REST

Wednesday7 Miles@ 9:01 pace on the treadmill. It was one of those days that I had to drag myself to the gym! I am trying to keep my other half on track for the half marathon we are running in a few weeks so he kind of motivates me to show up.

ThursdayREST

Friday: 7.5 Miles @9:21 pace with my other half. The weather was perfect! It was 55 degrees, overcast and drizzly. I kept thinking to myself that this weather would be perfect for a marathon. I actually wore a long sleeved shirt for the first time in forever. I was feeling kind of blah the first 4 miles and finally started feeling it the last 3.5 miles.
SaturdayREST
Sunday: 11 Miles @9:33 pace with my other half. I think he is ready for the half marathon. He actually says a few word to me when we run now. He is always so serious and hardly ever says anything to me except "I  have to pee!"

TOTAL MILES: 25.5

My plan is get back into some 8:XX pace miles this week. I have been enjoying the easy paced miles these past couple of weeks because sometimes it just feels good to take it easy and give your body a break.

So how was your week? Have you added any races to your calendar?
I have been thinking about it. I really want to run a race on my birthday!

    1. You did great and has an awesome time! I am jealous! I want to try some marathons in other states someday. The only out of state race I have ran was in Las Vegas since it is within driving distance.

    1. I get the same way when I hear about all of these races! I really want to run MCM one of these days. Everyone has been talking about what a great race it is. I think my 2014 Race Calendar is full so I need to stop thinking about all of these other races!

    1. I am also thinking about signing up for a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day with the family. My son just does not like to run so I am not sure if I can get him to do it. Speaking of a 5 miler, I am also considering an 8K in Feb, 2014! Good Luck on that 5 Miler!

    2. I'm running the YMCA Burbank Turkey Trot 5K with my mom and stepdad. I just signed up my boyfriend as he wasn't too thrilled of running on Thanksgiving day. I LOVE the "add participant" button on those registration screens! Ha! BUT I had to compromise and let him sleep for the rest of the day! I think it worked out for both of us. :-)

    3. Running with family is pretty fun! I am thinking of running a local 5K on Thanksgiving morning. It is uphill for the first two miles and the last mile is downhill! You are such a sweet girlfriend! I can see how much you love that man :)

  6. It looks like you're going to be in great shape for the half and Ragnar! Great job on listening to yourself and taking it easy during recovery. I'm a newbie and am still trying to figure that one out. I had a measly 2 miles last week but I started this week stronger with 12 miles on Sunday. I hope my legs are back before I start to go really crazy! I haven't planned anything new for next year yet, but I like your run-on-your-birthday idea! I might consider doing this too!

    1. I have been taking it easy. I have been injured too many times for being careless! I signed up for the marathon on my birthday but September can be a hot month! If the weather is horrible then I might have to run the half. You have a marathon coming up really soon! Good Luck!
