13 in 2013

I can’t believe that we are entering the third week of February already! My year has started out great and I am excited to say that I have completed three half marathons to date for 2013. I actually joined "13 in 2013" so my goal will be to complete 13 races of various distances in 2013.
I am still looking for a March race and can’t seem to decide what distance I want to go for or how far I am willing to travel. I am trying to stay local so that I can avoid hotel fees since I still have about nine more months of the year to think about in terms of races. I think i have about exhausted my Vegas winnings on race entries and other running related things!

Everyone is talking about the Chicago Marathon today but as much as I am itching to register for it, I am going to have to pass this year. I am curious to see how soon it will sell out this year. My goal this year is to complete the Beach Cities Challenge so if all goes well I will be registering for Long Beach to complete the series. Long Beach happens to fall on October 13th, the same day as the Chicago Marathon, and since I can’t be in two places at once, I am going to stick with my goal and run Long Beach instead. I plan to register for Long Beach by the end on the month before the price increase.

I had a good week was able to put in about 27 miles, including the Rock 'n' Roll Pasadena Half Marathon, which is about average for me. My miles are right where I like to see them so I am hoping that February will be a 100-mile plus month for me!

So who is running the Chicago Marathon?
How long do you think it will take to sell out this year if it hasn't sold out already!

  1. I'm not running Chicago this year, but like you, hearing everyone talk about it is tempting me to sign up. It's less than a month out from my wedding, and I don't want to have to juggle marathon training with wedding stuff. It sounds like you have an awesome plan going for which races you'll be running this year. Good luck finding a March race!

    1. I think you are smart not to register especially wish your wedding being so close. The last thing you need is more stress! Take the time to enjoy your wedding and not have to worry about training or conflicts in your schedule! Congratulations on getting married! Best Wishes to both of you!

  3. I actually got into Chicago before they cut everyone off with only 15,000 spaces left. Whew! I feel like I got really lucky.

GOOD LUCK with 13 in 13. That sounds like so much fun.

    1. I saw your FB post that you registered twice! Chicago is on my bucket list but I am trying to stay local this year to save some money! Have fun! I will be thinking of you and wishing it was me!

  4. Sounds like you dodged a bullet- everything I have heard about registration for Chicago this year seems really chaotic! I'm trying to do the same thing this year with racing - closer to home and cheap entries!

    1. I heard that Chicago registration was pretty frustrating! I might end up doing an out of state race next year when I visit my sister in South Carolina since I am already there! Nice PR on your marathon!
