I'm Registered!

I registered for the LA Marathon today! This is a race that I have been wanting to run for quite some time. I have heard so many great things about the course and the crowd support especially the nice downhill finish! The race starts at Dodger Stadium and ends at the Santa Monica Pier and takes the runners through lots of landmarks along the way. I registered for the race back in 2011 but due to a hamstring injury it was DNS#3! Instead of running the marathon, I laid in my bed and had a pity party while I watched it on TV! That was a really tough year for me. Let's change the subject...

The purpose of running this marathon is to keep me on track for my goal BQ race in May, 2014. I will also use this race to experiment with any new things that I might want to try our before race day. I have been trying to convince my other half to run the LA marathon with me but he said "NO WAY." I am hoping that he will change his mind after he runs his half marathon in November. Once he realizes he can run a half marathon, maybe the crazy thoughts of running a full marathon will enter his mind!

So on March 9, 2014 this is where I will be along with 20,000+ runners! There has been some crazy weather conditions in past years so I hope we all get lucky in 2014!

Anybody else running the LA Marathon next year?

    1. Mine used to be a run hater too but I think he kind of likes it now. He gets excited for the long runs because he never thought that he could run more than 3 miles!

  4. Good luck! This year the weather seemed great. Last year when I did it, I felt like the wind was going to carry me away, and the wind kept it cold. Hoping for better conditions for you in 2014!

  7. My BQ goal race will be May as well. I need a 3:40 (I'll be 37) but will target a 3:35 as I'd love to go in 2015 and really think I'd have to finish above the time to get there. What is your qualifying time? Good luck as you train toward the goal!

    1. I am an old lady so I only need a 3:45! I am looking to slide in right under 3:43 (8:30 pace) and hope that gets me in for 2015. If not, I will be 45 sooner than I think and a 3:55 will get me in. I am sure I can pull a 3:55 off so who knows when I will get to Boston! Good luck with your training as well!
