Three Things Thursday

1. I received the results back from my x-rays and I am relieved to say that I do not have a stress fracture. I am still puzzled as to what is causing this small area of pain so if it is still hanging around next week, then I will ask to be referred to an orthopedic specialist. I am will be doing nothing from now until Saturday with the hopes of running jogging the 10K.  If I am feeling any pain at all, I will sit it out. I will be sad but I will refrain from doing further damage in hopes of running the Long Beach Half Marathon!
2. This weekend we are planning to visit the the LA County Fair. I have not been there in a few years and I get in free on Saturday with my college ID so I guess it's worth going. I am not a fan of all the fried food they have but I enjoy looking at it because it is so bizarre! Deep fried Dodger Dogs, Kool Aid, Oreos, frog legs or cereal do not seem very appetizing to me but people seem to love it for some reason.
3. I purchased our races photos from the Color Me Rad 5K and I love them.  They were the cheapest photos ever and I think all races should sell their photos for $1.99! Don't you?

Have you ever tried any of the crazy fried food at the fair?

I have not and don't think I would. I might end up liking it!

What is the weirdest kind of food that you have ever seen or eaten?
It would have to be this deep fried food! I think they even have deep fried butter!
Do you buy your race photos?
I don't think I ever have because they are so pricey but if I really loved them I think I would.  They always catch me at the worst moments so I haven't fallen in love with my race pics yet!

  1. Those photos are so worth it - you can see how much fun you all had :)

I splurged for my first Boston; photo AND the pricey frame that holds the picture, a medal, an engraved plate w/ name and finish time.

  2. LOVE those pics, and so glad to hear you don't have a fracture. Sometimes these aches and pains are the body's way of saying "slow down!" We may hate it, but often it helps to rest for a few days.
I admit, I love fried food, and it loves my lower stomach and butt, therefore I try to avoid it, haha!

    1. I am not a big fan of fried food but I think I love lots of things that love my lower stomach, hips and butt too! Haha!! As far as this pain, things have slowed down this week! Not a single run this week and I am about to go nuts!!

  3. I think we may be dealing with the same type of injury. My X-rays came back clean a couple weeks ago too. I have had the pain on my right shin that is pretty direct on the bone, and very sore to touch. I've had it for 5-6 months, rested numerous times, and it won't go away. My couch and doctor bumped me to a neutral shoe and it may be helping because they think I've had too much support with my stability shoes. I also do PT. Looking for the magic cure! I would love to know if you find something that helps. Otherwise I guess an MRI? :/

    2. It does sound like the same thing. You have had yours for a long time. If I were you I would have an MRI. My doctor is leaning towards soft tissue inflammation so an MRI would pick up anything serious in that area. I tried to change my shoes as well and that was worse so I am just sticking to the same shoes that I have always used. I hope you are feeling better soon and if I find anything out I will share it with you so maybe you can have yourself checked out for the same thing. Thank you for sharing.

    1. I do have compression socks and don't wear them while I run. I do use them for recovery though. My son is really looking forward to going to the fair. I do love those turkey legs too but Disneyland has the best ones!

    1. People swear by that fried food but I am afraid to try it. It just does not sound good for some reason. My daughter just tried the fried Kool Aid! I hope the pain goes away really soon. It is better today but want to be 100% again.

  8. Very beautiful photos. I always buy (bought because I don't know if I can race again) my race photos because they are nice memories.
I saw the weirdest kind of food when I visited China for business. I think that this is weird for an italian but the italian food has to be the weirdest for a chinese.

    1. Good Point! I should probably buy some of my race photos for memories. I have heard that China has some pretty different food.

  9. Very glad to hear it's not a stress fracture. I love the fair. There's something about it that seems so timeless to me. Not that much about the fair itself has changed over the years in my opinion and even though I never eat anything but the cotton candy I do love all the smells and sights.

    1. I agree with you. I have fun just walking around and taking it all in. All of the food is in the largest forms and people just seem to love it. My son loved it and he had a great time!
