Goodbye January and Hello February!

January came and left so quickly! I guess time flies when you are having fun but it also flies when you are busy and juggling a million little things. That is kind of how January went for me.  As I mentioned in a previous post,  my Grandma and I have been drowning in paperwork from banks and every other place you can think of since my Grandpa passed away. Our list is getting shorter so I am hoping to kind of get things back on track in February.
So what happened in January? I ran my first race of the year and logged about 64 miles for the month. The race was a good thing but not the low miles. I am going to have to work on that in February. I missed a few of my long runs and made the decision to run the Surf City Half Marathon instead of the full and I am kind of glad that I did at this point. I wish I was running the full but it would probably be ugly!
February also includes the Pasadena Rock and Roll Half Marathon on February 17th. I lived in Pasadena for quite some time and attended high school there so it will be nice to run a race in my hometown. I have nothing on the books for March which makes me sad that I will not be running the LA Marathon. I was planning on taking it easy in March to prepare myself for Ragnar in April which is probably a wise decision.

Have you noticed that there is something missing from my Race Schedule? Yes, a full marathon. I am looking around right now for one to add to my list for 2013. I am not sure which one I will pick but I want to add at least one to my schedule so I can get busy training for it.

How was your January?

Do you have a marathon (or two) on the books for 2013?

  2. 64 may seem low, but it's relative. Right now I see that as high. Nice job!! I'm glad your body is cooperating with your mileage and racing, especially your shin!

    1. Thank you Christy! My shin issue tried to make a come back this past Sunday but seems to be okay for the most part. I don't want a replay of that again. Hope everything is going well for you in the running world.

  3. good luck tomorrow!! :)

How about the San Diego Rock n Roll full? It's in June. So, you'll have plenty of time to prepare. I'll be there for the half. They made a few changes to the course & the finish will be at PETCO Park instead of Sea World. :)

I love Pasadena! You picked a good race Sandy. I ran it last year & loved the course!!

    1. Thank You Pam for always being so positive. I love that about you! I really want to run San Diego and have heard lots of good things about the changes to come. I am looking forward to Pasadena even though I keep hearing that the course is hilly. I am not a hill runner but I plan to just treat it as a training run to get some miles in.

Ahh!!!! You're running (probably finished with) the Surf City half right now -- hope it's been a blast & you're feeling awesome! My next (first post-baby) race is the Rock 'n Roll San Diego half in June. No idea what full I'll shoot for this year, but it'll have to wait until the fall. Anyhow, I've always loved running Rock 'n Roll SD full, so I'd recommend it too!

    1. I saw this comment once I had completed the race. It was not a good race for me for lots of reasons but I love the surfboard medal! I want to run San Diego one day especially now that they have made some changes to the course. You are so committed and I am sure you will be dying to get back out there and do well. It's almost time for that baby!!

  5. I have one marathon on the books (Eugene in April), but will need a fall one too. I'll be curious to see what you sign up for!

    1. I would love to run Eugene as well. I want to run every race in the world when I hear about them! I will be making a decision real soon but really dread training in the summer heat for those winter races. CIM is towards the top of my list but after the rain last year I am having mixed feelings about. Take Care!
