This week was a little tough for me! I had some pains in my achilles from wearing heels during my graduation! They were not very high at all but I guess I am not used to wearing them! I am not a fan of high heels and you will rarely see me wearing them! I was also walking funny in them because my heels kept sinking into to the grass. I did not get a run in until Wednesday and it was a pretty easy one. It is no fun to run through pain so I never take any chances. I wanted to allow myself time to be pain free until I would attempt a run and I am glad I did! Everything is good now.
Run #1: 6.2 Miles on the TM @9:40. This was a super easy paced run but it feels good to take it easy every once in a while. It took me a while to get going but once I did I was able to pick it up a bit in the end.

Run #2: 8.0 Miles @8:40 pace. This was a tough run for me! I was barely hanging on to maintain an 8:40 pace!
Run #3: 13.15 Miles @8:56 pace. The weather was perfect and overcast during my entire run so I kept the pace easy and made this a long and steady run. Next week I will push the long race at a harder pace.
Total Miles: 27.35 Miles

In other news, my other half finally got the bike trainer set up this week so I am looking forward to putting in some miles on my road bike that I bought a year ago but have never used!
I decided not to run the Pasadena 5K so I will spectating a race for the first time. I will stay with my son and switch roles and be the photographer while my other half runs. I know it is going to be a weird feeling because I am not used to being on the other side of things.
This coming week is going to be tough for running due to a busy schedule. I have to work late on Tuesday to attend a City Council Meeting, the 5K is on Sunday and I am trying to take my niece to Disneyland as well. NO EXCUSES so I will find time to get my runs in no matter what!

Have you ever spectated at a race? Was it difficult to do?
High Heels or Flats?
Flats, Flip Flops and Running Shoes for me!

No high heels for me
ReplyDeleteI have never ever walked in heels
Not even on my wedding day:)
Really! You dislike them more than me :) I have a hard time walking in them and they are just not comfortable.
DeleteI remember watching the ZOOMA half last year because I was 1 week from my due date...even though I knew there was NO WAY I could run it, it was still hard not to be running!! I did give me good perspective though. I do like heels and wear them for work but in the summer it is all about flip flops and running shoes!!
ReplyDeleteI guess you didn't have much of a choice but to watch ZOOMA so that makes it that much harder! I have a choice but I want to register for a different 5K next month so I am saving my money for that.
DeleteI hate high heels! Thankfully for my job I don't have to wear them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't spectated a lot of races, but I do think it would be fun.
Congrats on graduating!
Thank You! I always wear flats to work. I am also a non-fan of skirts/dresses at work so I always wear pants.
DeleteI'm with Caroline--I hate heels. I wore ballet flats in my wedding.
ReplyDeleteBut I *love* spectating. Last year when I was injured my husband ran a couple of 5Ks just so I could live through him. It was fun! I'm hoping to do more cheering for some of my girlfriends, too.
I thought I was the only one who didn't like heels! The three of us have a few things in common! I know that I am going to feel like running but at least I won't be feeling nervous like I do before every single race no matter what!
DeleteI think you know I love heels! I feel transformed when I wear them. My coach said I'm ok to wear them if I stretch every time I remove them. Based on that, I don't think you're alone in your dislike... Better safe than sorry!
ReplyDeleteOf course you love heels! You have the largest shoe collection that I have ever seen in my life!
DeleteI love high heels and I have quite a collection. That's probably the one thing I miss from my days of working at the bank. Now I have no reason to wear heels unless I'm dressing up for church, a nice dinner, or a wedding.
ReplyDeleteWhen I go shopping I see so many cute pairs of heels that I want to buy. I still wear them but only for special occasions. I guess I am so focused on running these days that I don't want to take any chances of falling or hurting my ankles!
